Isabelle Zehnder - Coaching Teens

To teens and parents of teens:

A friend told me a little story I'd like to share with you. Not long ago she was walking down the street and around the corner came three adults who were laughing and joking. She overheard them say, "Teen crows must have done that!" She walked around the corner to see what they were talking about and saw an overflowing garbage can with garbage strewn all over the sidewalk. The immediate assumption was that a group of teens did this when in reality she said it looked like it simply was too full and flowing over.

Some teens, like some adults, do bad things. That doesn't mean they are all bad. To label a group of people this way is, in my opinion, irresponsible and wrong and serves no positive puprpose.

I have worked with teens for many years and know that they are talented, whitty, smart, fun, and so much more. If society continues to view them as bad then more of them will be. What we, as a society, have failed to do is provide teens and pre-teens good, productive activities. Until a child reaches age 11 or 12 there's plenty of fun things for them to do. Once they reach 13 everything stops. So from the time they are 13 to 16 there are not many positive activities for them to engage in and they are too young to work a part-time job. With most parents working that leaves a lot of free time on their hands.

I would like to see a shift. Teens and pre-teens are full of energy and if that energy is directed to positive and productive activities then there's no telling what they could accomplish. The problem is so much of that energy is currently wasted because there is no one there to guide and direct these teens.

All that can change. Parents can learn to become coaches for their own teens. They can reconnect and build strong relationships now while their child is still home. These few remaining years of their children's youth should be cherished instead of dreaded. The relationships built today will go with families for a lifetime.

Positive Family Solutions, LLC, and Parents and Teens, Unite! are built on the belief that within each parent lies the Power to effectively and lovingly parent their teens and pre-teens.

And within each Teen lies the Power to be productive, caring, and loving members of their family.

Coaching is anchored on the belief that people are Creative, Resourceful, and Whole, and that within each of us lies the Power to reach our full potential. Once we are able to Unleash that Power we can achieve our own personal, self-defined outcomes.

Coaching is an ongoing Partnership. It is a Journey to Discover who you are and who you truly want to be. It is a Process that produces Profound, Measurable Results. Clients come to coaching because they are looking for Change or have important Goals they hope to attain.

Coaching creates Harmony when once there was Discord - Joy when once there was Despair - Peace of mind when once there was Confusion.

Most people strive for a better quality of life. They want more Joy and more Quality Time with their Children and Teens. Coaching can help them Unleash the Power Within so they attain their Goals and Dreams!
